Abstract
The Bas - Rhone Languedoc which is the largest and most important lift Irrigation Project of France is designed to have a gross command of nearly 250,000 hectares and irrigable command of 170,000 hectares in the lower reaches of the river Rhone at an estimated cost of about 750 million Francs. With the completion of this project, a number of crops can be grown on an extensive scale in the region, where, at present, only one main crop i.e, vine is grown on a limited scale.
